She says that she and her husband, Milwaukee Bucks head coach Terry Porter, maintain a healthy diet. "I also drink lots of water," she says. "All of the things we do, such as what we eat and making a commitment to exercise, are things we’ve done for a long time."
The Porters place an emphasis on happiness as well. "We live a very happy life and we laugh a lot," says Porter. "I think it’s important to be around people that make you happy."
She also feels that it’s important to pass on what she’s learned, and she and Terry are doing their share. For example, they’ve started a local minority scholarship program - the Milwaukee Scholars Fund - and support the Boys and Girls Club, a group that played a major role in Terry Porter’s childhood in Milwaukee.
Susie Porter’s recipe for beauty includes a lot of traditional advice, and that’s also something that translates into her own personal style. "I’d describe myself as classic, but a little bit trendy," she says. "Your personal style tends to evolve over time, but everyone has classic outfits that they rely on."
Porter’s choice: A gray coat and pants.
"I can put that on and feel good," she says.
More importantly, her beauty tip is one that all women can benefit from. "Clothes that fit well make a huge difference," she says. "I highly recommend having your clothing tailored so it fits you well."
