The Fix Is In: Oily Skin!

I'm 67 and my skin is so oily. It looks fine when I first put make-up on, but it seems to get more oily throughout the day, even in winter. What can I do?
Taking care of oily skin means starting a good skincare regimen and sticking with it. Wash your face every morning and night, but donât overdo it. You may think you are doing yourself a favor by washing your face three or four times a day, but you are actually stripping your skin of its natural oils, which will actually cause your glands to secrete more oil.
Use a face wash, such as Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, that cleanses the skin but does not make the skin feel tight or overdry. Always follow up with a toner or astringent to remove excess oil. Also, ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and glycolic acid all help to clean the skin of oil and debris. A good one to try is Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner.
Next, hydrate the skin with a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer. You may be wondering whether or not you should be using a moisturizer even though you have oily skin, and the fact is, everyone needs a moisturizer. For oilier skin types, a light face lotion will hydrate the skin to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, by keeping the skin moisturized, you are actually maintaining the natural balance of the skin. Oils are secreted to naturally hydrate the skin. If you are not sufficiently moisturizing your face, the oil glands will try to overcompensate and will result in even more oil.
