It’s one month after New Year’s and it’s probably safe to say most people’s resolutions—whether to stop smoking, exercise more, or lose weight—already have gone by the wayside.

While willpower and determination play a large role in keeping those resolutions, being armed with the right knowledge and having a good support system is just as important.

That’s something Cliff and Roxanne Marsh are hoping to provide.

The Marshes are hosting free “StepFast” seminars at the Joy of Life Fellowship Church here every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. until March 5.

Marsh was born and raised in Fort Frances, then moved to British Columbia where he lived for 30 years, working most of those years in the meat industry.

His wife originally is from Kamloops.

The pair moved back here less than two years ago to be closer to family. But before that, they spent several years in Kamloops, where they owned a gym and taught martial arts, aerobics, and weightlifting.

“We’ve always been interested in fitness, health, and nutrition,” she noted.

The couple became interested in vegetarianism when Roxanne Marsh found she had sensitivities to certain foods while her husband was having digestion problems.

“I was on a very strict diet for years,” she said.

Eliminating meat from their diets helped greatly with their health problems, and the couple remains vegetarian to this day. The Marshes are lacto-ovo vegetarians, meaning they don’t eat meat or fish, but do eat dairy products like eggs, cheese, and yogurt.

They learned about the “StepFast” program when they found the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

“Everybody at some age will look spiritually for answers,” Cliff Marsh said. “We look at the Bible as a guideline for proper living.”

The “StepFast” program is designed to help people live healthier and longer lives through proper diet, exercise, good habits, and prayer.
