Starting healthy with breakfast

Longganisa and sunny-side up for breakfast. Sitting down on your butt all day and the stress of traffic for the evening. Our lifestyle is killing us. Skipping meals, crash diets and nonsensical protein-only fads only make things worse. We spend our youth accumulating a fortune and we spend a fortune regaining our youth. Bombarded as we are with consumerism, we want what we donât have more than ever before.
We need a lifestyle that makes sense. And it all starts with breakfast.
A balanced meal
âSkipping meals leaves you hungry by 10 a.m. The next time you eat the hunger will make you eat more than what you need,â reveals Milvi Lim, nutritionist for Nestlé Philippines Inc. She adds, âAvoid fried foods as much as you can.â Most of traditional Filipino breakfast viands are fried foodsâsponges for cooking oils, whose saturated fats content clogs the heart and the arteries. Foods such as egg, butter and certain meat portions are also naturally abundant in fats or bad cholesterol. One should eat these sparingly.
Breakfast cereals high in dietary fiber, low in sugar and free from fat are a good way of starting healthy habit daily. Convenient and easy to prepare with just the addition of milk, cereals starts one’s day right.
