Harmony: The Unspoken Element Of Weight Loss

I donât know about you, but there are very few things I find more relaxing and enjoyable than listening to good music -- particularly when itâs accompanied by great vocal harmony.
Maybe itâs because Iâm a musician who grew up during the 1960s, a heyday for folk music. The sound of beautiful voices dancing together in time always makes me stop and listen. What does this have to do with weight loss and healthy living? Well, turn up the volume and keep listening.
I was sitting at my desk and starting to get my thoughts together regarding a topic for this article when I put on a CD a friend of mine gave me -- "The Essential Simon & Garfunkel."
Iâm sure most of you will remember this incredible duo. Paul Simon wrote some very moving and insightful music and, together with the velvet voice of Art Garfunkle, recorded some of the most memorable music of their time. That point was particularly driven home to me as I listened to a few of their mega hits -- "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Scarborough Fair," "The Boxer" and "The Sounds Of Silence."
This particular CD also featured a number of live performances from the '60s. These were particularly pleasing to me as they simply consisted of two voices, one guitar and a live audience. Music doesnât get any more honest than that!
Anyway, as I listened to the combination of acoustic guitar and two-part harmony, I had a rather interesting thought about you and what it takes to succeed at healthy living. What can Simon and Garfunkle teach us about healthy living? In a nutshell, you need to create harmony in your day if you want to usher health into your life.
